A bright light of journalism has gone out, and I think we are all a little poorer for it. Here is how NPR put it: “Journalism Legend Daniel Schorr Dies”. He was 93 years old.
Not much more to say really. This guy started reporting when he was 12 years old and never looked back. He took on the big boys, breaking the Watergate story, uncovering CIA assignation plots (illegal) and being where the action was through the Cold War.
His keen insights on people and events were deeply informed by decades of firsthand experience. I will miss his commentaries and wit, and I am sure millions of people around the world will as well.
I doubt if there is anyone left big enough to fill his shoes.
