A little while ago I saw a FB posting that reminded me of a
childhood ventriloquist. He was featured on many of the 1950s and 60s family
variety shows that once were the centerpieces of TV networks. His act was
simple and funny. At a time when we, the children, were practicing hiding under
our school desks to avoid being killed in an atom bomb attack, Seǹor Wences
